The Finger Wag – Athletes using Twitter and Social Media to their Disadvantage

If you all can remember the 49ers brought in former Giants backup quarterback David Carr into the fold to compete for the starting QB role. Patrick Willis took to twitter with his feelings on the subject:

we have 3 qb’s that are better then him. That’s a waste of his time.

I’m saying if we going to go get another QB. spend money on a difference maker. Like vick.

I would rather stick with my qb’s now then sign carr.

Willis apologized almost immediately and as a Giants fan I don’t really blame him for the outburst. Carr got a chance a couple of times with the Giants first team offense last year with Steve Smith and a group of young wide receivers and he failed to impress in his chances. As a fan I do wish he was still in the backup role with the Giants as he was more than capable of stepping in for a game or two.

Today the 49ers had another singing, Ted Ginn Jr. (yes the former first round pick) from the Dolphins

The return game most certainly will be better but what about the overall offense?

Ginn had some good moments last year for the Dolphins at wide receiver. He did this as really the only good option Miami had.

The 49ers can now field Crabtree coming in after a full offseason of work and Ted Ginn. These two guys together can really stretch the field for San Francisco and then you add a beast of a TE in Vernon Davis over the middle and this could be quite the powerful passing offense.

All they really need to do know is pray they can keep their running backs healthy and they should be able to take the division with the departure of Kurt Warner.
